How the DNS comparison works
-
Your browser asks three resolvers
Your browser asks Cloudflare (1.1.1.1), Google (8.8.8.8) and AliDNS (223.5.5.5) over DNS over HTTPS; nothing passes through this site.
-
Answers are for your network
The page adds no ECS parameter. Google and AliDNS may answer with addresses near your network, so results can differ by place.
-
Differences are marked
A record one resolver returns and another reachable one does not is marked amber; TTLs are shown but not compared. An unreachable resolver’s column is grayed.
Reading the result
- DiffersAnother reachable resolver does not return this record.
- CNAMEAn alias pointing to the next name; the final records follow it.
- UnreachableYour browser did not reach the resolver within 8 seconds; common for Cloudflare and Google in mainland China.
Frequently asked questions
What does it mean when the three differ?
Large sites often answer with nodes near the visitor, and each resolver has its own locations and cache, so different addresses are common. If one answer does not look like the site’s, check that address in the IP lookup or on the WHOIS page.
Why only A and AAAA?
They decide which address your browser connects to; the CNAME chain is shown with them.
